Privacy Policy

Overview

Contexer is an open-source engineering decision layer for AI coding agents, offered as a self-hosted project, a free Personal Cloud service, and paid Teams and Organization plans. We respect your privacy and collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we collect on contexer.ai and in the Contexer Cloud service, why, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and similar laws.

Data controller

Bhargav Amin acts as the data controller for personal data processed via this website. Contact: hello@contexer.ai.

Data we collect

• Waitlist signups: email address and, optionally, name, team size, and a short free-text note about your context-management pain point. Stored to send product updates and early-access invitations.
• Account data (Personal Cloud and paid tiers): when you sign up at app.contexer.ai, we collect the email address and basic profile provided by your OAuth provider (Google or GitHub), plus the decisions and team settings you choose to store in Contexer Cloud.
• Technical metadata: referrer and user-agent string at the moment you submit the waitlist form or create an account, used to prevent abuse and understand traffic sources.
• Analytics (with consent): aggregate page views, approximate region, and device/browser class via Google Analytics 4. No cross-site tracking or advertising identifiers. IP addresses are not logged by us; Google may process limited technical data in accordance with its own terms.

Self-hosted use of the Contexer open-source software transmits no data to us.

Legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

• Consent — waitlist signup and analytics cookies.
• Legitimate interest — operating the site, security, and abuse prevention.
• Legal obligation — responding to lawful requests from authorities.

Retention

Waitlist data is kept until launch and for up to 24 months after, or until you ask us to delete it. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days.

Sub-processors

We use the following providers to operate the site and service. They process data on our behalf under data processing agreements or standard terms:

• Supabase — database hosting, authentication, and storage for the waitlist and Contexer Cloud accounts.
• Cloudflare — CDN, edge hosting, DDoS protection, and Turnstile captcha.
• Google Analytics — anonymous, aggregate traffic analytics on contexer.ai (only when analytics consent is given). Governed by Google's data processing terms.

Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@contexer.ai.

California residents have analogous rights under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
